" E Co was alerted at 022000I to prepare to move to Fabrica on 3d of Sept at 1300hr.

E Co arrived Insular planning (sic) mill where pow stockade is located. the company will be used as guards. At approx 031100I the Japanese liaison officer for the Kondo Butai forces arrived at Mabini to make final surrender arrangements on 4th day of Sep '45.

"9/3/45 Entire company left Malapasoc 1400 hr. 3d Sept 1945, moved by train to Fabrica, 0cc. Negros, P.I. Arrived at 1700 hr. Moved into lumber planeing mill owned by American Insular Lumber Co., company will guard P.W.s in same building."

At 041300I the formal surrender of Kondo Butai Forces took place at Mabini from 041300I till 0416001 the enemy troops came in to surrender in groups of approximately fifty each. The prisoners were taken from Mabini by truck to Fabrica POW stockade where the were then processed by the Bn S-2. A total of 1,009 enemy troops surrendered.

Prisoners were very cooperative during the surrender and while being processed. The physical condition of the majority of the enmey troops was fair and their equipment, clothing, and weapons were poor condition. Moral was good.

Approx six-hundred enemy troops are expected to surrender on the 6th Sept '45.

 

5 September 1945

Continued local security patrols reporting nil activity in the Malapasoc area. Continued processing POW's ar Fabrica.

Enemy casualties: 1,009 enemy troops surrendered on the 4th of Sep. Total to date; 602 KIA 1,197 POW's.

At 060800I one squad patrol sent to investigate Fillipino (sic) report of enemy activity in Bugang.

At 061830I six-hundred ninety enemy troops surrendered to our troops at Mabini, making the total pow's in the past three days 1,699. Total to date: 602 EKIA 1,887 POW.

1930

Squad patrol returned after making a thorough search of the Bugang area and after questioning a number of Fillipio (sic) civilians and reported nil activity.
