CANE TRAIN  - Though the LOOK OUT sign calls them a tram, there wasn't all that much to differentiate them from the trains of the Queensland Railroads - which ran on a 3ft 6 inch gauge. The cane trams were privately owned, and ran on a 2 ft gauge. Irrespective of whether they were a train or a tram, these narrow gauge railways were too much like the "Toonerville Trolley" for us not to be cute. They were a regular sight throughout Queensland, and particularly around Gordonvale, where we were encamped.
