The battery downed more planes than it received credit for, but the numerous guns of other batteries firing on the same target made it almost impossible to ascertain exactly whose guns hit the plane. 

Battery I, 60th Coast Artillery (Anti Aircraft) operated .50 cal Machine Guns situated near Rock Point, Rifle Range, Morrison Hill, Battery Cheney, Battery Grubbs, Battery Wheeler and on the Topside Parade Grounds.
