Paul Whitman (Snr.) was a small country town boy from Rockhampton, Australia, who joined up after he was admitted as a Solicitor (Attorney). Sidestepping a likely court-martial for disrespectful conduct towards an an officer (Dad never could suffer fools gladly) he was attached to MacArthur's HQ just prior to it leaving Brisbane for Hollandia. He never regretted it, and by his own admission he enjoyed his stint in "Combined Operations Intelligence Center" in Tacloban (Leyte) and Manila so much as a 'proxy Yank,' he hoped  to be demobbed with his buddies in San Francisco before returning home.

He died in 1998 and this website is dedicated to his memory.
