During clean-up activity, Pfc Stanley C. Crawford of Company "I" was mortally wounded as he cleaned out an enemy infested cave.

The first night on Corregidor I shared a foxhole with Stan Crawford in the vicinity of the water towers.  I wrote of this night in "NO SMOKING." Stan was killed later at the graveyard on the end of the island. He was a courageous man  with a dry sense of humor and a good friend. I still pray for him.
