LEARNING THE
USE OF THE FLAMETHROWER - Although
its actual "burn time" was around 7 seconds, and the flame
was only effective to around 100 feet, it would prove to be
practical in dealing with dug-in pillboxes, caves and
tunnels. It was, unfortunately, very heavy - empty it
weighed 43 pounds, and loaded with 4 gallons of fuel it
weighed 68 pounds. It was equally effectuve placing a stream
of fuel into a tunnel entrance which would then be set afire
with a WP grenade.
