Less prolonged delays in jumping usually landed the first men of the "stick", or group, on the field; but the last few were crowded over the buildings and could not escape from crashing on ruined house tops or in demolished cellar holes. Here they suffered a high percentage of injuries, many of which turned out to be serious fractures with compound wounds. Two, I believe, were fatal.
