John Bartlett, Chris Johnson (Squad Leader) , Richard Lampman (B.A.R.
Gunner) and Earl Soucie. At Battery Wheeler, Soucie had a WP rifle
grenade and fired it in an attempt to lay smoke to conceal the escape of
Friehoff and Huff from inside the battery. In the rush, he forgot to
pull the arming pin. In the end, Huff and Friehoff had been able to run
out during the yelling, fuss and confusion being caused by Lloyd
McCarter, S/Sgt John "Red Horse" Phillips and Chris Johnson. They'd
thrown all their grenades, and fired all their ammunition. They'd found
a carbine too, and fired all its ammunition. It had been a win for
audacity, ferocity and an inebriated threesome. |
