DEPARTURE FROM
BRISBANE
On
5 April 1944, the 503d PIR were embarked upon the USAT SEA CAT
destination unknown, and much speculated upon. At this point, the
462d PFABn weren't a component part of the 503d - that wouldn't
happen until 17 August on Noemfoor. This view is of the area between
the north bank of the Brisbane River and Eagle Farm airfield. There
are "igloo" style aircraft hangars visible behind the tug boats.
Note also a tent city on the right hand side of the image.
