CAMP ASCOT, BRISBANE
- Transit troops passing through Brisbane, or there on
R & R, might find themselves at Camp Doomben or Camp Ascot - each
were race tracks in the English style. By 1943 there were more
than 1,200 tents pitched inside the track, with more located in the
immediate environs. Both remain until today.
