Falling Short of Landing Zone "A"

16 Feb 1945

Landing Zone A was the athletic field, and  due to strong headwinds, a large number of men  landed short of the area, having been blown back towards the cliffs.  Fortunately, the area was open and undefended. The buildings in the right foreground are the officers quarters.   The quarters on the left are Building 28-D, which will become the CP for "F "Bn. The battery in the center of the photograph is Battery Cheney, overlooking Cheney Ravine.  On the far left is Battery Wheeler.
