"GENERAL ORDERS
NUMBER 8 & 9"

Orders Dated
7 March, 1945

On 7 March another ceremony was held at the flag pole. Major General Hall, XI Corps Commanding General, came out to the Rock to hold an awards ceremony. It appears that a number of officers and men had to be selected for awards. Many recommendations had already been sent in for  awards based upon merit, but these had not been approved or returned.  So each company was directed to select a certain number for Silver Star Medals and Bronze Star Medals.  One Silver Star that I know of was "self-awarded."
