Constituted in the Army of the United States as the 462nd Parachute Field Artillery Battalion.

15 JUN 1943

Activated at Camp Mackall, North Carolina.

21 DEC 1945

Inactivated at Camp Anza, California.

17 DEC 1946

Redesignated as the 462nd Field Artillery Battalion, allotted to the Organized Reserves and assigned to the Second Army.

23 DEC1946

Activate & with Headquarters at Toledo, Ohio. (Location of headquarters changed 4 June 1947 to Canton, Ohio).

25 MAR 1948

Organized Reserves redesignated as the organized Reserve Corps.

9 JULY 1952

Organized Reserve Corps redesignated as the Army Reserves.

1 JUNE 1959

Inactivated at Canton, Ohio.
