FRIDAY 2 MARCH 1945 IS DAY 15 OF THE CORREGIDOR OPERATION, D+14.

A flag party and honor guard, all clad in freshly issued fatigues, witnesses MacArthur raise the flag for the cameras.   The mission is officially declared to be closed, though in real terms it is not -  intensive patrolling and small actions continue against isolated remnant forces.

    3/34th One platoon from 3d Bn, 34th Infantry arrive from Mariveles to represent Rock Force in the day's proceedings.  
    Reg't Each Company furnishes one squad for guard of honor.  
0900 South Dock   Gen. MacArthur arrives by PT boat, visits Malinta Tunnel.  
1000 Caballo   12 x P-47s put on air show mission against Caballo Is.  
1100 Btry Wheeler   Gen MacArthur makes short visit, then proceeds to the presentation ceremony.  
1200     Gen. MacArthur visits former qtrs to see if a case of scotch he buried under the steps is still there.

2030     Request made to Corps to return the 603d Tank Company to their own unit.

3d Bn Maj. Mitchell, XO of 3d Bn HQ & HQ Co., is injured when he falls through an aerial bomb-hole in the floor of a barracks.  Aid men risk movement at night when a radio call is made concerning Mitchell's injuries. more
