Next time you're in Manila, take a walk beyond Luneta Park, and go back 60 years as you pass the Finance Building, the Legislative Building, City Hall, The Metropolitan Theater, The Post Office and over the Quezon Bridge into Quiapo. All of these were battlefields once. Turn left at Quiapo and go through the streets of Escolta towards Sta. Cruz. You can then return via the MacArthur Bridge, or Jones Bridge if you're more enthusiastic. You'll have just walked through a major portion of the largest city battlefield fought by each of the Japanese and American armies.
