Pvt
James Daubard, killed at Corregidor, was my uncle.
Jimmy was drafted immediately
after he graduated from high school and was gone six months later.
.He had no surviving
issue as he was only 18 when he was killed. He was survived by two older
brothers, Weldon (my father) and Edward, and his parents, James and Winifred Daubard of Pleasant Plains, IL. He is buried at the cemetery in Pleasant
Plains.
Since all of the above mentioned family members
have passed away, there isn't much information about James. My brother has
the original telegram from the Army informing the family of his death,
funeral mementoes, and one or two photos.
As an ex-USAF officer, I hope your project to
honor those who served goes well.
