BLESS 'EM ALL - THE RESEARCH PAPERS The comprehensive history of the 503rd
Parachute Regiment has been published in a four volume hardcover
series, along with a stand-alone Pictorial Companion. The series
prime author was Col. William T. Calhoun, and under its editorship
by Paul F. Whitman its scope was expanded considerably. The origin of
the project was Col. Calhoun's reference notes, compiled across his
decades of exhaustive research and interviews, and extracts from the
Regiment's records. We now present these in a Reference Reading
Series for serious students of the Regiment. |

NEGROS (OCCIDENTAL) OPERATION The transfer of the 503d
PRCT to Gen. Eichelberger's command resulted in it being called in
to "assist" the 185th Infantry Regiment which was finding the
"mopping up" in Negros a much harder task than expected.
Negros would become, ultimately, a much more difficult operation
than Corregidor. The campaign would be largely
overlooked by even the Army's Official Historian. It was perhaps the
most grievous misuse of a paratroop unit in WWII. The Negros
Journals are presented in five folders. |
