The North Dock Gold-Hole

The National Bank of Manila hired a crew of divers and workmen to operate at Corregidor Island in 1985. The divers spent two days digging a hole in the mud bottom just off the northwest corner of the North Dock. In the attempt to find gold, the divers dredged a five-foot deep trench about nine feet along the bottom parallel to the dock. The water depth here is only about fifteen feet, but the local islanders still don’t know just how lucky these divers may or may not have been.*

*Do they really think GOLD would have been unaccounted for?
All treasury gold was accounted for, and transferred off the island.
